Epilepsy Institute & Centre for Treatment, Training, Research & Education. Founded by Dr. Chary in 1994.
"A full life with everyone, like everyone — in spite of epilepsy."
Dr. Prithika Chary has repeated this line for over three decades, and it says everything about why EPICENTTRE exists. Not a life on the sidelines. Not a life defined by a diagnosis. Just a full one — the same one everyone else gets to have.
EPICENTTRE — the Epilepsy Institute & Centre for Treatment, Training, Research, and Education — started in June 1994. At the time, there was genuinely nothing like it in the country.
Epilepsy care back then was scattered: a neurologist here, a psychiatrist there, no one really talking to each other about the same patient. Dr. Prithika Chary set up EPICENTTRE as sole proprietrix to change that.
She first set it up in a 4,500 sq. ft. centre — four consultation suites, a lab collection centre, ECG, and both analog and digital video EEG, all under one roof — alongside an in-house team of a neurologist, neurosurgeon, psychiatrist, physician, cardiologist, paediatrician, psychologist, speech therapist, and dietitian. For patients, that meant one visit could cover what used to take five appointments across the city.
Four dedicated consultation suites at the original 4,500 sq. ft. centre.
On-site sample collection, avoiding repeat visits across the city.
Cardiac screening available on-site as part of comprehensive evaluation.
Long-term video-EEG monitoring, analog and digital.
EPICENTTRE hasn't stood still — but through every move, the model has stayed the same: expert, connected, patient-first epilepsy care.
Wherever you are in your journey with epilepsy, there's a reason to come talk to us.
Epilepsy is more common than most people realise — roughly 1 in 10 people will have a seizure at some point, while 1 in 150 to 200 live with chronic, recurrent seizures. It's the most common neurological condition in adolescence, and the third most common reason people land in the emergency room after stroke and head injury.
